if you have more than 4 gb of RAM, you can give the Sims 3 more memory to use. Right now the game is set to use 2 gb.

Do not use more than HALF of what you have. So,if you have 16 (Cnih, looking at you), you can give it up to 8 gb.

Go into where your basegame is, mine is digital, so it’s in Origin. If you had a disk, it’s in ProgramFiles(x86)/origin OR EA/the sims 3/game/bin

copy that file and put it somewhere safe in case you screw up.Right click and open with notepad or something. Change and save as noted above.

I have 32 gb of RAM, but only gave the game 8 gb and it flies. What it does, that I needed it for as I make machinima, was rendering. I have a massive Nvidia card with everything on high, but it still took its sweet ass time to render. Now, it’s pretty much instant.
